There are some people who can understand the timelines of all four of the Gospels. Well, they can understand Scripture better than I do. They can find in it the very words of Christ and also the additions not made by the Evangelists themselves.

The comment "(For Jesus himself had testified that a prophet has no honour in his own home town)" seems to be ill-placed as it is made according to this morning's Gospel Reading on leaving a Samaritan town on his way into Galilee.

The revelation made through Isaiah has still not materialised in the real-time that is the reality in which we live every moment of our lives on earth. We have had the whole of God's purpose for creation revealed to us but just as the time and place of the Incarnation was revealed only as it happened  so will what we know as the Eschaton, be known only by the event itself.

It will happen and we should hold it in our minds and live each day as if it were the last for there are as many personal "last days" as there are persons. Let us hope that that personal last day, if it does precede the Eschaton, find us prepared and aware that by coming to the end of our biological lives we are not ending our beings. 

Our being is God's image and likeness which is not of this world but which will be used by our Creator, FATHERSONHOLYSPIRIT, as part of the new creation, a heaven and earth in which our sins will not be remembered for "Jerusalem will be a joy, and its people gladness".

In the Old Testament God is revealing his will for a whole community. The Israelites were saved from Egypt, educated and chastised in the desert and entered the Promised Land as the one nation which was to reveal that IAMIAM is the only God by his achievements through them.

That is a very brief summary of the centuries that had passed before the Incarnation and the direct face to face teaching of Jesus to his Apostles, disciples and to all who had ears to listen.

Jesus still speaks to the multitudes, now millions, as individuals. He tells the paralytic to take up his bed and walk. He tells Peter that he will have the responsibility to bear the weight of what he has witnessed during the past three years. 

He tells each one of us that we need not be afraid even though we are sinners for he is always ready to forgive and welcome us back with open arms.

The father who welcomes back the prodigal is "Our Father" and so we pray as taught by Jesus to him who is 

                                                Our Father not confined by time or space. 

                             FATHERSONHOLYSPIRIT, is a totally perfect three-in-one glory beyond  our wildest imaginings. 

We know that we are to see him "all-in-all" and for this kingdom we long.. 

We are free individuals and can thus choose to obey his will and come closer to His perfect holiness. We can also refuse.

We ask to be supported in this life on Earth to enable us to aim to be the image and likeness of His being in our personal lives, our souls. 

We acknowledge our sinfulness and pray for a share in the Mercy of Calvary. 

We ask to be able to discern and avoid the temptations of materialism and thus be safe from the evil of this world's addiction to Mammon

Saturday Week 3 Lent

In these days, i.e. the last 2000 years, most of us receive the "Word of God" by what we read. Even Jesus quoted directly from scriptures. Among his last words were the opening words of psalm 22."Eli Eli lama sabacthani".

For some of us reading the Scriptures has become a liturgical way of life and they have made "For I desire steadfast love and not sacrifice, the knowledge of God rather than burnt offerings" a personal reality.

In those days i.e. 2000 years ago most of those who met in Solomon's portico and each other's house were still in awe at what they had witnessed during the life-time of the "Word of God", Son, "true man" had lived amongst them. For many, the Crucifixion had been a hope-destroying real-time horror but they had seen the resurrected Son and were fervently preparing for his return that they were sure was imminent.

In these days, now, the passage of time has long since removed those eye-witnesses and their sense of urgency from our midst, we are again in the same condition as were the scribes and pharisees of Jesus' day. Our only knowledge of the Word comes to us through words written by man and we have to search for the voice "This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased".

The books of Moses and the other prophets were words spoken into their hearts which they revealed to God's chosen people. Today's parable illustrates how they had been received. 

What is our learning and intelligence in the eyes of IAMFATHERSONHOLYSPIRIT for whom there has never been anything to learn? It is we who have to learn everything that is revealed in the scriptures and truly to believe so that we can always be the little one, the tax-collector, poor in spirit, empty of self who speaks to Our Father and is answered not by crescendos of thunder and lightning but by the still quiet voice that, as did Mary, we can ponder within our hearts.

I know that I am sitting in front of this screen seeing words pass out of my brain through to my fingertips and keyboard to appear before me. I also know that this is not the "Kingdom of Heaven". 

Some of Jesus questioners were trying to trick him into giving heretical answers. Some, like the rich young man and the scribe of today's Gospel were trying to probe what it was that gave this "carpenter" the charisma that inspired others to hang onto his every word. These were sincerely looking for the "Kingdom of Heaven".

There are very few times that Jesus, "but I say to you, love your enemies", condemns any one whom he meets during his lifetime. He condemns the towns that refused his teaching and warns the scribes and pharisees that most of their "religion" is empty show. Their religion was far from the "Kingdom of Heaven".

Jesus is for yesterday, today, and tomorrow. Absolute perfection cannot change. Our Father knows that his chosen creation, mankind, however can always go rushing off after the trivia that is the work of our hands. We continue to threaten our souls by treating our material goods as gods and it is to the very back of  our minds that we push the "Kingdom of Heaven".

Dear Lord, help me to never lose track of your way, truth and life which is the only goal that can bring me and mine into the perfect love that can only be shared by consistently being attentive to your will for us. You know me and reveal my sins  so that my life on Earth can become cooperation with all disciples who pray as taught by you, IAMFATHERSONHOLYSPIRIT, to seek the infinity of grace that is Jesus, Son of God, the perfect peace where we find total joy, Your "Kingdom of Heaven".

I know that every moment that I am alive it is possible for me to lose touch with Our Father.

The millennia long  struggles of the Chosen People is replicated in my daily life.

"Am I struggling to be free of God or am I truly longing to become perfect in this world as were Jesus and his Mother?"

It is obvious what the answer should be but only IAMFATHERSONHOLYSPIRIT and myself know how often my "Yes" in the spirit has been compromised by the thoughts in my head and the deeds of my body.

The very nature of the "House of the strong man" means that it cannot provide a home within which there can be any love at all. In Hell there can be no peace, only the "grinding and gnashing of teeth". This brutal image is all that we need to know about the alternative to the door that is Jesus. The Son of God is the gate of the sheepfold that leads us into the mansions of the Lord.

In the three years of Jesus ministry in Palestine, the Incarnate Son taught us all that we need to know to follow him into the highest levels of human possibilities and achievement. 

In three millennia of Old Testament history our Father had continuously revealed his will to the Chosen People but they continued in the disobedience that could only be rectified by the completion of Abraham's interrupted sacrifice. 

How can we match with our praise the greatness of our God who so identifies with his people as to become the sacrificial victim that takes away the sins of the world.? 

Nothing is impossible for IAMFATHERSONHOLYSPIRIT. 

We have all been created in so great an "image and likeness" that it is possible for each one of us to accept, love and serve to the very limits of our being and thus live out our lives in the righteousness that is the "Mystical Body of Christ/ the New Holy Family that was founded on Mary and John by the words of our dying Saviour.

We all know that we are unique beings in a Universe that is vast beyond our comprehension.

In the first mass-reading for today Moses is inspired to proclaim that to be known by God is the envy of all who have not been favoured in the same way as have the Israelites. They are known and cherished by IAMIAM to the extent that they are having the rules for living holy lives revealed even as Moses speaks to them.

The historical nations who will dispute the territorial claims of the interloping Jews will not have the support of IAMIAM who will demonstrate through the Jews that he is the only God. All the others who were worshiped are only human names of the non-existent products of the imaginations of the "non-chosen" people.

The Jews, however, prove themselves to be incapable of compliance with the essence of what is revealed to them and become just as other Middle-East nations, pawns in the human power struggles between the great Empires that grew out of the fertility of the lands watered by the Nile and Tigres/Euphrates.

Moses was something greater than all Mesopotamian and Egyptian Emperors but the great civilizations of the Middle-East did not become the vassals of IAMIAM or the Temple in Jerusalem. It was the pagan "gods" of Greece and Rome that devoured the Temples of the Middle East.

As we read the scriptures we always have to remember that it is the whole of the Bible that is speaking to us. Jesus' "there is something greater than Moses here" was triggered in my mind by today's  confirmation of the place that "The Law of Moses" must play in our lives.

There is nothing greater that we can do during our lives than know and obey the Lord. We have had the final revelation made to us and yet our world is getting farther and farther away from the will of God for his people. The Jews who had had the first revelations made to them had lost the spiritual link to the Eternity of IAMIAM, who reveals through Jesus that he is IAMFATHERSONHOLYSPIRIT, that was symbolised by the Law and Temple. 

 Jesus has filtered out and purified by his blood the accretions that we use to  block out his grace. He has made the "once for all" sacrifice but the institutional churches, just as the Jews, have not been able to separate themselves from the things of this world and the result is, although spread throughout the whole world, a Christianity whose teaching is largely ignored. 

Jesus declared before all the "chosen people" and directly to all worldly power in the person of Roman Governor Pontius Pilate. "My kingdom is not of this world". There has never been a time since then when we have acted in "our times" as if we believed him.

The Annunciation

In moments of awareness of my sinfulness I have wondered, asked God, why it was that I have been born.

Today I can understand that in so doing I was challenging God. I was blaming Him for creating me to be sinful. This sinner can now only thank God for the opportunity to confess his sins and do penance for them.

There is no need to ask why the sinless Mary was born. She is essential to creation for the Incarnation is the Word who is with God in the beginning and is God. She is the sinlessly created source of the human body that is needed for IAMFATHERSONHOLYSPIRIT to become "True Man", from fertilized egg to the tomb, and she is totally sinless; she is the spotless womb wherein Jesus was laid; she is Theotokos. 

She was also a teenager.

Her sinless human perfection could respond to the Angel by "How can this be?". The Incarnation is a human biological event that was accepted by Mary. God really become "True Man".

Of course, I am "gob-smacked". How else can anyone react to the wonder that is the historical fact of the conception and gestation of  "True God" as are not only all humans but also all mammals? It is to be a revealed mystery great enough to last a life-time of prayer that should need to know nothing more. 

I was also a teenager. 

I am a sinful man, a being who is self-aware but who wants to live a life as "God-aware" as was Mary and Jesus. I live in my time and although willing to say with Mary "Be it done unto me according to thy word" each passing moment is so filled by awareness of the World and of the sinfulness that I can add to it that I am always having  to make a personal act of will to turn my consciousness back to Our Father, his heavenly holiness, and my obligation to do His will on Earth.

Dear Lord, you know what I need to do to live according to thy will. Help me to share the grace that protected your mother all of her life and let the carapace of sin that has kept your grace from my heart be broken and reformed as the "St Patrick's breastplate" celebrated by the Church earlier this month. Our Lady is present with you in heaven and leads angels and saints in that eternal "now" of praise, thanks and petition that becomes the loving forgiveness so needed by sinners both on Earth and in Purgatory.
