Our ancestors in faith in the Old Testament are characterised by the way they were always ready to apostatize and forget their debt to the Lord. In the first century of our Living Lord, there were many who accepted death and became role models for the blossoming Church. Imagine the feelings of those in the arenas waiting for the beasts, animal or human, coming to pierce their flesh with teeth or sword. This was done before hundreds and thousands of witnesses in Rome or the provinces.

There are many who are remembered by their constancy until death, but the apostates are not recorded in any number until the third century. The victors really do write history just as we can push thoughts of past embarassments and even sins to a place at the back of our minds from which they periodically ambush us  into rembered shame and guilt. The Church is proud of the Martyrs but makes no mention of those who failed the ultimate test.

Furthermore, the Church became  the persecutor at many times in history and perpertrated injustices on those who felt that God was leading them in a way not taught by the Church. In these days in the attack directed at God by those who want to deny the meaning and purpose of being human, as a result of the corruption of sinful clerics supported by their overseers, our Church has been able to do nothing to reveal the truth of her foundation belief in Father Son and Holy Spirit.

Dear Lord you know better than we do the unholines created by our sins and support of unholy pastors We act as do the pagans and are unguided by our baptismal promises and your direct command to love you  our God and place  no being before you. Mary we on Earth are desperately in need of the Grace won by your Son I ask you to send his Advocate that we here and now can feel the feel the warmth of the Love that is Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Jesus'promise is in response to Peter's inspired answer, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God". Peter did not find it easy to live up to demands of that inspiration and in the face of mortal danger became a feeble human again. Following the remorse of that night and day, the resurrecton brought him to the state of faithful grace that could face the power of Herod and accept punishment in witness of that inspiration.

Paul's life is being lived as a sacrifece to the Glory of God. He is being poured away as is the blood on the altar in the Temple. He has a wonderful confidence in the power of God to forgive his earlier actions against the disciples and knows that what he has done since the Appearance on the road to Damascus has been accepted by God.

Jesus' promise to protect the Church built on the very human Peter is more important than the backsliding and failures of the Institution that has grown into the Church that we see today. "Sufficient to the day is the evil thereof". It is the promise of Father, Son and Holy Spirit, delivered by Jesus that is still the rock, the rock that cannot be shifted by the misuse of our human freedom which seemingly dominates our prelates and their clergy in these times.

Dear Lord may the Faith  which consumed the first believers in love return to become the most obvious part of your Church on Earth. May we all avoid sin this day and offer a gift of hope and love for the redemption of the whole world. May Mary continue to offer the support she gave to the first friends of her son to all who suffer and believe in this world and in Purgatory.

Matthew  repeats the teaching of Luke which we read yesterday; Amos presents God at his most devastating O.T. self. The psalm is a dire warning that there is only evil for those who never consider God. Today newpapers are full of blasphemies against Father, Son and Holy Spirit; people with musical talent presume to atack the teaching of God.

The arrogance of mankind is now reaching a point where we seem to be asking God to destroy us. Our priests and prelates need to think deeply about how much the first stanza of the psalm applies to them. Jesus brought the Good News and is a living interpretatioin of the Sign of Jonah but we still throw in our lot with thieves and fornicators Property has always been theft but wealth is the main criterion for worldly judgements. The halls of Mamon are filled by souls who every day congratulate themselves on the astuteness of their financial judgements.

I receive my pension without thinking of the origin of the money that comes to me. "It's my right, I earned it" is the self-congratulatory mode of millions of us. Amos' God delivers judgement on us all; Churches, Charities, drug dealers will all be crushed and as each one of dies we will know that we each one of us could have used our freedom  to be with God but at that moment it will be too late. Now is the time to reject the blasphemies of etertainers, the arrogance of intelectuals, the pride of presidents and the deceits of sinful clergy.

Dear Lord you know that I am upset by the picture of you painted by many of the Old Testament prophets. You who are perfect Love are also perfectly Just and are ready to accept with joy the truly penitent sinner. You who are the "Good Shepherd" lead us on the paths of righteousness. Guard us I pray from the total contamination that is the teaching of the world. May Mary pray that we can all come to realise that with our deaths will come judgement of our lives and help us all to face the tribulations that come to us in our innocence., knowing that the judgement we will receive will be just but tempered by mercy.

I wonder what twelve yoke of oxen is. Elisha does not immediately follow God's call to prophetical holiness delivered by Elisha. He wants to perform his filial duties but Elisha's mysterious rebuke, "What did I do to you?" is enough for him to immediately accept and abandon his worldly goods and source of wealth. He sacrifices a pair of oxen and uses the wooden plough as a fire to roast them, sharing the meat with his men. Slaughtering the oxen and calling his men must have taken some time but finally he gets up to become Elisha's servant thus devoting his life to God.

St Paul knows that we all know the needs of ourselves before anything. We are first guided by our selfish needs. As babies we all cried for food and attention. Our first glimpse of love comes from the way our mothers' ministered to our needs. We all have to struggle against our infantile selfishness and learn that Jesus has shown us that to be truly Human we must put Father, Son and Holy Spirit first in everything and then treat our neighbour and our enemy with the same, if not more, care than we treat ourselves.

Jesus calls but we can all find justifiable reasons to resist. Honouring father and mother is a duty given to us by God. The totally perfect example of sonship tells us to let "our dead bury the dead". The one who claimed this dutiful reason for not following did not have a decaying corpse to deal with but a duty that had to be performed in due time. Jesus calls me now; he calls us all now. Is this thought and  prayer the best I can offer up to him?

Dear Lord you know the limits of my humanity; you know the weakness of my spirit; you know the misuse of the freedom given to me. Am I sincerely looking towards your eternity or becoming self absored and self-satsified? Help me with your grace. May Mary who first loved Jesus with the maternal warmth experienced only by all mothers share her love and the love of all the saints with the sinful and suffering people of this world.

We have passed the midpoint of our year and with the celebration of the birth of John the Baptist know that we are now on the countdown to the Nativity of Our Lord. The outline of God's plan to offer to sinful mankind the opportunity for salvation and life eternally in his presence is revealed through Isaiah and it is clear that all of humanity shares in the same Love that had previously been for Israel alone.

The psalm thanks God for his creation of our Universe and for knowing each of us as an individual with the potential to be forever with Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We  know in human time and are known eternally by the fullness of God's Love. I am in the body now but what I can become is totally from God. My freedom has to choose and I must honour God by refusing to be overcome by the devil the world and the flesh. 

I must know and act according to the ways of my spiritual life. My soul is mine to preserve by the graces freely distributed to us all by the unimaginable sacrifice of Jesus whose cousin announced his coming and in humility proclaimed himself unworthy even to buckle on his shoe.

Dear Lord I thank you for my life which you know in your eternity. You are totally beyond my scope of knowing but I believe that you are pleased with my puny efforts at worship and understanding. Let my soul grow in love and hope to reach eventually the perfection you have prepared for all mankind. May Mary who rejoiced at the birth of Elizabeth's son remember in Heaven the earthly joys she felt as she continued to carry our as yet unborn God and beseech that Son to return our sinful Church to the only path that leads to heaven.

Today's Gospel is really Good News for all mankind. Sinners who repent will be welcomed with rejoicing into the Kingdom. The merciful heart of Jesus, pierced by the soldier's spear, is overflowing with the Love and Mercy of God. 

Our Bishops of late have attempted to emphasise the Mercy of God by conducting annual masses for what they, following wordly practice, call the "Gay Communitity". God has not created such categories of humanity. We all share the common humanity into which Jesus, although sinless himself, was "begotten not made"and we all can share in the joy that comes with repentence. 

Mercy does not just "fall like the gentle rain from heaven". We have to actively seek it out by recognising our sins and seeking the forgiveness that is always available. Anyone who preaches a Mercy without Justice does a huge diservice to mankind and again twists the lance into the heart of our Lord and Saviour.

Today's letter from St Paul is one of the oldest texts confirming that even the earliest Christians had begun to know God as Father, Son and Holy Spirit. God is still the Evergreater One and Trinity totally beyond our human intellects. The millions of words written and thoughts thought but not preserved  since the life, death and resurrection add nothing to our knowledge of  Creator God whose filial Sacred Heart and Holy Spirit continue to seek out all sinners in readiness to accept the repentant into the eternal joy prepared for us.

Dear Lord I am trembling with thoughts of you and your magnificance. You know that it was with sincerity that my fingertips wrote the words above and that I truly believe that they may be acceptable to you. My self is a poor image and likeness but was perfectly human (marred by original sin)at conception. Let me become totally aware of the harm done during my sinful life and let me seek out the sacramental forgiveness won for us on Calvary. May Mary who knows of God more than any other human lead the saints in their praise and petitions to God that the suffering here on Earth and in Purgatory may be freed from their sins to be welcomed into Eternal Joy.

Jerusalem was depopulated and robbed of its wealth. All the men who could bear arms were taken to Babylon, all those of useful skills were taken. The poor, the wretched were left behind. Similar events have continued up to this day. Syria has been devasted and its people become refugees, strangers in foreign lands. At the end of Hitler's war part of the victors' spoils were the skilled scientists who were welcomed with open arms. Today the native peoples of Brazil are being deprived of the habitat in which they lived their natural lives. Russia is again ruled by a meglomaniac and for its neighbours it is as if the last 30 years have never happened.

Such is the life of this world, without meaning unless we completely follow the authority of Jesus. There is no sense in trying to achieve human power and wealth for no matter how we try we will lose them at death. Jesus warns us that doing the will of the eternal Father, Son and Holy Spirit is the only way to Heaven. Speaking in Tongues, miracles, exorcisms can be done by invoking Jesus' name but are no guarantee of the holiness that is beyond the lip service that I am desperate to avoid.

Dear Lord your message recorded by Matthew is difficult for me to grasp for we have been told that "by their fruit you will know them" and you support those speaking in your name in that the signs have been performed but somehow the "Will of the Father" is missing. Is this a warning for backsliding priests and prelates and for us all to aim for perfect sincerity which is available for the mankind you have created to be free. Mary only you of humankind have been created without sin and so have the perfect understanding of the will of God pray that all thy children can know love and obey with the sincerity that can bring us to heaven.

Jesus warns the disciples of the dangers that will face them in the world. False prophets there were to be in an endless variety. Today there are still many and many who seek them out. Wars we will hear about and wars that will inflict us directly. Betrayals will take place in families and in the Church. We must be strong and stand firm in the face of persecution. Eleazar told his false friends directly that the deception they presssed upon him was  a non-answer. He would die as he had lived, devoted body and soul to the Lord and his law.

John Fisher and Thomas More similarly refused to bend to the will of the King and of his minions. Both loved Father, Son and Holy Spirit and would lose their lives rather than depart from the Love and the Law revealed to all mankind for all ages. These three individuals are united in the belief that God is the Ever Greater. In the Old Testament passage there are many more of the Jews who broke the dietry laws than refused and these tried to convince the martyrs to accept the pagan way of life. Were there not more than one Bishop at the time of St John Fisher? What became of them? Were there not more than one Catholic Layman courtier/politician? What became of them?

The truth is that many accepted Church Lands and thus increased their wealth so that it lasts until this day. The English Hierarchy seems to have been spineless and this characteristic is still with us. How many of our Bishops trust more in Jesus than they do in accountants and lawyers?

Dear Lord let my heart be filled with your Grace; let my mind be fixed firmly on you and let my body do your will and support your creation by simple labour. Mother Mary lead the saints and martyrs in worship and petitions for grace to be given to all people to know that it is only God that we need to love, serve and obey for this is the way to the holy sinlessness that you have always enjoyed even in the horror on Calvary.

God saves Jerusalem, his  holy city. Jerusalem is personified as a girl tossing her head to reject advances. The Assyrians have been victorious and destroyed all who stood against them and broken and burned their idols without life or power. God's life and power had been revealed to the Jews for generations. The exodus was not enough to remind them that their God was God indeed but their accrual of worldly power and wealth caused them to take on the worship of their neighbours. 

Jesus tells us that we can enter into the Kingdom. He is the gate that is always open and welcoming. We are the ones to follow the path set out for us by Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We are free to choose but the path to deception is the one that is full of the treasures and pleasures of this world. It is wide and like an airport walkway once we put our foot on it it drags us with it where ever it is going. Jesus' way, is narrow and not easy but it is the way that brings with it truth and and it ends in the light that is our presence in the Eternal Glory of God.

Dear Lord you make it clear that our faith in the right path can bring us to the Kingdom. There is no cheap grace. We have to follow the hard path without deviating for you are always with us even to the end of time. We are the ones who choose. May I use my freedom to know serve and obey you in all aspects of my wordly life. May Mary your mother help those of us captivated by the world and help us to change the direction of our lives as only one road leads to heaven.

As I start this day I am aware that my mind will flash all over the place and that even though I am determined to begin the day with my thoughts firmly directed to prayer, all sorts of things catch and hold my attention. The state of the chosen people is not at all good in this morning's readings. The State of Israel in this modern world is much worse for their pride in themselves has exceeded their relationship with God and the Chosen People live in their own world of pride and Mamon

We too, the Christians of Europe, have placed God out of our minds altogether. At a click of this mouse I can see that the world has been convinced that there is no need to seek out the Father, Son and Holy Spirit for mankind is unto itself the measure of all things. Individual persons decide what is sinful or not and the control that we can have over the shape and workings of our bodies has deluded us into forgetting that death comes to all of us and for that the most important thing we can do is be prepared.

We all have to be aware of the real enemy of righteousness that  is the forest of hypocrisy keeping our vision from viewing our own faults. JesusSon knows everything and loves us all and so  he never lies to us. We must not judge the sins of others before we know our own.

Our Church is, in the wealthy West, in a serious state of decline. We can all of us, even me, do something about this tragedy by becoming consecrated to knowing, loving and serving as we were taught in the simplicity of our childhoods. God loves us and we can choose the right path to return that Love.

Dear Lord you know how beautiful is your world and how pathetic are our human efforts to presume to know more than you have made clear to us. By your life on earth you have shown us how to use our freedom and in your Church left the institution that should preserve your teaching rather than be lost in struggles for self-preservation. Let us have holy priests governed by bishops who are the true successors of your Apostles and let the prayers of your mother and all the saints bear fruit all over our world.

In the feeding of the five thousand we see the meagre rations never running out until all are fed. In the Eucharist we are given the  Eternal Body and Blood of our saviour. The Grace of God's Body is the food to keep our souls safe in this world. Safe from sin. Safe from Satan. Safe from the pride of mankind which is the source of our failings and our sins.

The responsibilities of our clergy are  made clear today. They are to be the means by which our Lord's legacy for us to be absolved of sin to receive the grace that he died to procure for mankind, is passed on.

             The good the guilty share therein,

 With sure increase of grace or sin,

          The ghostly life, or ghostly death:

Death to the guilty: to the good

Immortal life. See how one food

Man's joy or woe accomplisheth.

The responsibility to teach that we must be without mortal sin to share in eucharistic joy is firmly fixed on the Church for if we do not know this how can we truly know, love and obey to achieve the place reserved for us in the Eternal Joy of adoring Father Son and Holy Spirit and being known "face to face".

Dear Lord as mass is being said in every second of this day around this world let thy Holy Spirit enter into the hearts of the priests and people that belief and love for thy own sacrament is not a vague hope but a firm conviction and reality of our human lives. May Mary who shared her body and blood with the true man Jesus continue her maternal care for us.

Jesus makes it perfectly clear that the purpose of our existence is to live the gift of life righteously. We have to live holy lives focussed on God within his rules. We are all here to know love and worship. If we do this we can be sure that everything for our daily lives will be provided. "Give us this day our daily bread" is interpreted as referring to the Blessed Sacrament but also has a meaning for the reality of our daily lives.

The history of the backsliding of the Jews is one of savage brutality. Even the chosen people were able in an instant to start salughtering each other and their enemies too. The Prophets inspired by the Holy Spirit were able to bring them back to the ways of the Lord but until the presence of God in Jesus there was no unmoveable anchor to hold us in place in the tide of being.

The wars that have been the bane of mankind are still with us but now with the possibility of using the power of the elements of God's creation. This power could wipe out all life from earth. It seems that the majority of mankind including the Church have rooted themselves into the material world and have no time for Father, Son and Holy Spirit for we are, in deed, slaves of Mamon.

Dear Lord you know that this day I have to have medical treatment. I know that I am always entirely in your hands. Let me be subject to your will and confident in your grace. May Mary add her prayer to mine that the suffering peoples of this world come to their senses and know their earthly lives are the only chance our individual souls have of preparing for Eternity.

Each day has to be a renewal of my service to Father, Son and Holy Spirit. The readings are always my sources and the questions they raise have to be part of my daily meditation. The Rule of St Benedict has been followed for centuries and by following it men and women have devoted all their living to praising and serving God. 

In this age there are, in the west very few of them that are left and they have been discredited by the sinful behaviour of their monks and abbots. The holiness of serving you is no longer a priority even among the  orders that all have few monks but huge wordly wealth in land and buildings. They profess poverty but can always excuse their presence in the airports about the world.

They have become like the reservations created for the "Indians" of America scattered about Christendom but with a falling population which has lost the spirit of their forfathers. I'll leave that sentnce/image as it  is a warning for me that as I pray I must be sincerely looking to "Our Father" and not to the clever little ego that I am.

The world as it is now cannot be avoided for it is the human reality developed by manknd out of the instant of creation by God. My soul, the spiritual substance of who I am has to live in this world and direct my being to be in the presence of God and to humbly enter the secret room where I am but a tiny sinner.  Tiny but worth more than my understanding for I am filled with Grace won for me and all humanity by Jesus in Palestine so long ago. Come, Lord Jesus come.

Dear Lord let my deeds today bear witness to your love for all mankind. You know how each day I grope for sincerity in my prayer. You are our eternity and it is holines to strive after a place with you..Let no one go hungry today and by forgiving our sins let us know that we too have to forgive. Let me avoid the road to temptation and in all things protect us from the evil one. May Mary and all the saints in heaven who are in Eternity not in secret, but face to face, add their prayers to mine for the sick known to me and for all suffering humanity. God's will be done.

I try to begin each of my days with the readings chosen for the day's mass. I do not go to the mass for I am ill at ease about the sanctity of the Church. Too much evil has been revealed in recent times and I know that the priest celebrates the mass with the full intention of distributing the Blessed Sacrament to those who living together outside of matrimony are deliberately outside the Law and cannot benefit from this illicit performance of a rite. I cannot believe the teaching of the Church whereby the celebrant need not be in  a state of grace to perform the main function of his office. All over the world this is happening today and supported by Bishops .

Jesus tells us to not make a show of our religious beliefs but to go into our secret room and there pray to him for he is the only other presence in that place. I don't think that I am the only one trying this morning to meet Father, Son and Holy Spirit in this way and hope that my eforts are pleasing to him and not just easy for me.

In a way I suppose that this record of my beginning of each day is as it were standing on a corner of the network that is the WWW but nobody passes by. All is seen by God who knows how all of us try to live our lives according to his will. 

Dear Lord, thank you for the Loving Hope that is my Faith. Guide me along the path of life that is beset with so many attractive dangers of sin. Let my morning offering be pleasing to you and forgive all the sins mortal and otherwise that have filled my life up till now. May Mary and all the saints who are present in Eternal Life continue to support all the sick and wounded ones of this world that by their suffering they maybe turned to Our Father who...........

The Old Tesament reading today contains some fearful language and images. The sin of Ahab will cause him to be blotted out; the dogs will lick his blood. God is portrayed as totally vengeful but just. After Ahab's contrition God becomes again  God of mercy and compassion.

Jesus continues with his teaching of love and mercy. Loving our enemies is the "new" in the new Testament. The question "who is my neighbour?" is answered by the parable of "The Good Samaritan". Jesus tells us that anyone who does not accept the evidence of God in Jesus is against us. This negativity directed against God, Father Son and Holy Spirit comes from our enemies who, perhaps unknowingly, are the slaves of evil.

We must have no hate in us and the proof of this is love of our enemies and the measure of this love is our own forgiveness of those who wish us harm. I do not have to ignore the evil that is done to the world by those who refuse to know God. The vast wealth that has captured mankind in the grip of Mammon is the product of evil. The increasing value of corruptible matter is the province of Jesus' "tax-collectors" and condemned by him in the "widows mite" and the clearing out of the foreign exchange dealers and other business men from the Temple.

So many of us in this world are unable to avoid its attractions but this too like my body will pass away. I will have to answer for the sins of my life trusting in the Love that is God. Today I am alive  and must live without hate which can even be simply annoyance at another's grinding her teeth.

Dear Lord you showed us the mark of your love by the manner of your death. The nail hammerers just got on with their job following military discipline but you forgave them on account of their ignorance.Our world today is not ignorant but chooses to condemn you again by a point blank refusal to follow your revelation of the Good. Fogive us our trespasses and let the Holy Spirit inspire us to be totally free from hate. May Mary and all the saints continue to support the people of this world especially those who have the reponsibility of doing your will as the successors of your Apostles.

 The wickedness of Jezebel is in response to a sulking husband and is a total misuse of human freedom. Everything that is wrong with our world is the result of the misuse of this freedom. There is  a  multitude of examples of this today. The Ukraine war is  not an inevitable event that could not have been prevented. Russian troops crossed the border because Putin ordered this to happen. Thousands have died, millions made homeless because  in his human freedom one man decided to go for the glory promised by Satan.

This presents us with a huge problem in our human life. I don't think that any one in history has been able to "turn the other cheek"as we are told to  by Jesus. The concept of the "just war" dominated the leaders of Christendom for centuries. We feel that we had to withstand  the evil that was Hitler and his party. Our bombers had to kill thousands and destroy cities because ?............

Millions of wrong decisions are made every second of every day and as time goes by the evil of these choices accumulates capital to the extent that we can understand the "need" for us to take over the wealth of weaker nations.

Jesus does not give us any excuses. We are free and have been so since the creation of Adam but there are boundaries. Only Father, Son and Holy Spirit are totally free because God is love and wishes no harm to any of his creation.

Dear Lord let my will be totally synchronised with yours. Let me accept all that happens today in the spirit of "turn the other cheek",  that I am responsible for my own choices, that there is a way to live our lives and that way and gate are you. May we and the Holy Souls be constantly in the prayers offered by Our Lady and all the saints.

No matter how wise and sincere in wisdom any of us are the Trinity is a mystery that we can only encounter and accept that this is God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We believe and in believing we adore and thank God for our being; thank him for his revelations, guidance and most of all for his Love that is our example to follow and to accept.

We are the only beings that can find in ourselves God's image and likeness. This great gift means that we are capable of truly wonderous understanding and  manipulations of matter and its building blocks. This power of our human intelligence has so fascinated our race that many of us have forgotten that God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit is the "Ever Greater"who has created all and can destroy all.

God needs nothing from us except his Love accepted and returned in the freedom that it is given. He says to us be free but know that only I am without boudaries of any sort. Your freedom avails you of nothing unless it curbs itself to Know, Love and Obey. During our lifetimes we can live according to this belief. At our deaths this belief becomes the reality of our lives in God's Eternity.

Dear Lord confirm me in the sincerity that your scriptures inform and inspire. I am a sinful creature in need of your eternal forgiveness and hope that the adoration for you I can feel at this moment will guide me throughout this day. May Our Lady who at the time of the incarnation is the only human ever to have been totally aware of your Triunity continue with the work entrusted to her on Calvary and may we her children live our lives in the recognised Love of Father Son and Holy Spirit.

The Mission at Antioch had flourished and Barnabas was sent to witness this. What he found was a congregation guided by the Holy Spirit. If I ask myself what it was that pleased him so greatly, the answer must be that the converts believed in the Resurrection and the "Return" which they awaited eagerly. They would also have scoured the Old Testament for refernces to Jesus following the teaching Jesus had given to the disciples from Emmaus. There were there people who had witnessed the Crucifixion and had joined in the shouting for Barabbas when given the choice by Pilate.

Would the newly named "Christians" of Antioch been aware of the teaching in today's Gospel? We know that all the recorded words of what is the "New Testament" were in a state of growth and were not formally codified until the Fourth and Fifth Centuries but various versions had been circulating from the earliest times. St Paul's letters to his foundations were written within thiry years after the resurrection. The recollections of the Evangelists were all in existence before the end of the first century.

We have all of the direct teachings and implicatons of Jesus' recorded life to inform our faith but  those earliest words and prayers are still the basis of our .faith  Maranatha! The return of the resurrected Lord is still our greatest hope.

Dear Lord let me live this day in the protection of your love. Let me return that love without sinning. Protect all your people who with good intention are performing good deeds. Today Mary many of thy children are facing dangers to help others. Please commend their efforts to Father, Son and Holy Spirit in whose eternal presence you now are in body and soul.

Jesus warns us today that sinning is easy. He emphasises this by telling us that it is better to loose our body parts than to break the Law. Our sin takes place within us if we allow temptation space in our beings. Elijah finds the Lord in the gentle breeze not in the destructive powers of nature. We are not to divorce our wives except...... If we do they are not to be remarried. 

Elijah is driven to frenzy by the behaviour of the chosen people who are apostatizing and taking on the norms of the pagans. God orders him to anoint kings who will do his will and purge Israel of its sinfulness.

Our Church appoints Cardinals who are to administer the institution that the Church has become. This administrative act by the Pope has none of the hallmarks of Christ's Vicar on Earth. Cardinals of all ages seem to have exhibited the signs of pagan corruption and been without the humility that Jesus showed to their forebearers at the Last Supper. The wordly administration is required and becomes more necessary as the Church cares for so much wordly wealth. Our souls require that the Church regains the purity revealed by Jesus and found by Elijah in the gentle breeze.

Beautiful art and Cathedrals are fine but each human soul is greater than the sum total of them all for it is our souls that are created to avail themselves of God-given grace to reach Eternity.

 Dear Lord let my soul be open and welcomong to the grace that is superabundant and is the Love that will foregive our sins and open the gates of eternity where we will be joyfully in the presence of Father, Son and Holy Spirit. May Our Lady and all the Saints add their prayers to mine for all the suffering ones known and unknown to me.

I wonder what his contempories made of Isaiah's vision of God. This vision to me, reading it after centuries have passed seems to resemble the massive sculptures found throughout the Middle East more than it does the Jesus whom we know from the New Testament. The call to serve Father, Son and Holy Spirit is still the same and has not changed throughout the ages although the recipients have accumulated more knowledge of creation, and history has not stopped growing.

God's call to his people is still the same asking for his people to know their own freedom and to use this freedom to know serve and love God. Jesus is the Father Son and Holy Spirit and he has given us the perfect Unity which is to live in the Love that comes from God.

We are born into a reality that is beautiful and calls to us to enjoy our physical beings to the full. Jesus reveals the call from God to know that our physical beings are finite but life in the love of Father Son and Holy Spirit is ready for us. Our bodies are corruptible but our souls should live for ever. We are in control of this future which has been revealed to us and which will be ours if we avoid  the pride that challenges God, the pleasures of the flesh that occupy our minds and the self-satisfaction that fills our being and thus excludes God.

Dear Lord let your grace lead me on the only true path to you.Your Love is available to the whole world and it is only human will that rejects it. You know what it is that is true among the quagmire of my own experience and thoughts. Please send true guidance through the piety of your Mother and all your saints that I may know and pass on the way, the truth and the life that leads to your Eternity.

The Old Testament is Holy Scripture; it is part of God's revelation which culminates in the Resurrection. We have not experienced the events when it is recorded that Father, Son amd Holy Spirit presented their Oneness to mankind but we have the Real Presence in the Sacrament of the Altar.

The Jews of Palestine had been under the special care of God from the time of Abraham in Mesopotamia through the wanderings and captivity in Egypt upto the Son walking with humanity in Palestine. All these historical events had taken place in the human time created by God and witnessed by all humans.

God's answer to the prayer of Elijah is a real historical event. God revealed the Father and Holy Spirit  when the fire consumed the prepared offering. Of Baal there is no sign as his priests were mistaken and confused by Satan into  belief in something that did not exist.

Jesus confirms that the Old Testament is a true witnessing of  God's dealings with humanity and and with his expectations for the free being that we all are. His is the completing act of our God who has given hmself for our salvation; unlimited grace over flows from the Altar where the Sacrifice of the Son is repeated  endlessly as did the fire on Mt Carmel.

Dear Lord strengthen my faith in you that my hoped for future existence in your eternal presence will be filled by your love of all sinful man. Let my hopes be fulfilled and let the prayers of Mary and all the saints reach into your sacred heart and bring forth your gift of love for me and all your peoples on Earth.

Long faces are not to be for us; even when we are fasting the Lord brings to our hearts joy which is visible on our countenances. Worship of God, knowing, loving and serving bring greater happiness that an abundance of material things. There were many widows in Israel at the time of drought recorded in the first book of Kings. 

We must shine as did our Jubilee beacons. We must be a sign for all men that God is with us and by his free gift to us enables all to choose to turn to him asking for his support All comes from God. The Universe, the World, the smallest of particles making up our atoms and my being are all created and depend on God. 

At Sidon today there are many suffering from the want created by the pride of those who put the collecting of millions of dollars before the the teaching their Ancestors received directly from Jesus. All wealth is left behind at death. Nothing of the world will remain and it is the light of this truth that Father, Son and Holy Spirit want to radiate from us. 

Dear Lord bless the work of my hands and let me truly experience the joy of your love. Keep me from deadly sin this day and let my prayers bring the lonely, the haters and the hungry back to the joy you want us all to bathe in and radiate the Love that cleanses the soul, to all mankind. I believe that for Mary and all the saints in heaven there is no time and so they must be free in a Now without beginning or end. Let them now give praise to God and seek his help for us all who are pained by sinful thoughts and the boredom generated by the slow passing of human, wordly time.

All the prayers chosen for the Liturgy are not only appropriate but some are more strikingly beautiful than others. Today's collect is a case in point. It contains much of our faith in one carefully constructed sentence and points out to us the role of Our Lady in God's plan for the salvation of mankind. I cannot help but ask how it is possible for any priest to read this beginning to today's prayer without being moved as I am. Of course, today is now and tomorrow is another day.

Our Lady, the only human born without sin (Adam was created without sin and Eve sinlessly formed from Adam), is also the only human other than Jesus who is present in the eternal heaven in body and soul. As a human she must be appalled by the behaviour of the Church that she has been given by her son. How can we still fall into the mire of sin with the "Fiat" of Salvation as our maternal guardian?

We all have the freedom to avoid the world, the flesh and the devil. We can say "no" to temptation but my own life tells me that it is very easy to put off to tomorrow what should be our first commitment today; know love and serve is what is required of all of us and we only have to ask and the grace to do God's will together with the support of Our Lady is ours.

Dear Lord help me to be sincere in my thoughts and in my prayers. Let me avoid the self-satisfaction that so easily comes from pious moments. Without your grace I am nothing. Mary you know the pains of motherhood and the horror of witnessing the torture undergone by Jesus, your son, keep all suffering mothers in your heart and pray that all thy children will thankfully use the grace so painfully won for us.

The disciples who had formed the first congregation devoted to the Father, to the Son they had all known in his life death and resurrection, have now the third part of the Trinity that is one God revealed to them.

The wind, the shaking, the flames the talking in tongues was a physical manifestation that God granted to those there in the place where his final revelation was made. We have to face the fact that this happened. It happened once and none of us have been confronted with this vision of God face-to face on Earth since that time.

A spiritual mission is also given to those present. The Baptist had brought baptism for the forgiveness of sins. Jesus had in his humanity and divinity shown us the way, the truth and the life and by accepting death in all its torments and rising to a new life, with the Father from the beginning, had generated a source of God, the Holy Spirit to be with us until the end of time; "this is my body". A grace that they can pass on to the believers that have not seen. "Receive the Holy Spirit for those whose sins you forgive, they are forgiven and those whose sins you retain thay are retained".

At the Last Supper and today in the same room, Jesus, without doubt, confers what we now call priesthood on those whose names we remember as Apostles. This mission has been passed on and through the ages has been obscurred and tarnished but it is still the same laying on of hands by God to consecrate those he has chosen.

Dear Lord should not every one of your priests search for the Holy Spirit to fill their hearts with the grace of the Father won by the Son? I know that I am complaining about others when I should be asking for forgiveness of my own sins. I am only human and cannot see as you see. I know that this spirit of devotion will soon be replaced by today's  cares of this life but sincerely ask to be absolved and free of sin. The Saints in Heaven led by your Mother; did she too receive the priestly ordination to forgive sins? continue in their worship and  may their prayers bring succour to me, my family and to the whole world.

The account of Paul's appearance before the leading Jews in Rome has all the hallmarks of Pilate washing his hands and "letting them get on with it" for it was not only too complicated but also too bothersome to deal with these strange people from Palestine. As always, Paul emphasizes that he does not preach for money but because God wants the whole world to hear the "Good News".

Today, Elizabeth 2's jubilee, we see the results of that mission that are so different to its beginnings The successors to the Apostles are overburdend  with riches and the cares that accompany them; cares that distract them from the mission to know, love and serve.

I too can be lead away from God by cares for myself and family and evidence of corruption in the Church. St Peter asks; "What of this man?" St John is very careful to explain that Jesus had not promised that John would not die but that "If I want him to stay alive till I come, what is that to you?" God's ways are not man's and again Peter and his faults are reprimanded for an all too human response to his place in the Kingdom, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Dear Lord may I be always aware of my place in your Love and with true sincerity thank you for my life and my family. Let us all be true to your teaching and confirm here on Earth what we believe about your heavenly Kingdom. May your Mother and all the saints continue their prayer for us here on the earth of which they are aware and, with  God's grace, have overcome temptations.

I am trying to type this morning without my glasses. I have read of Paul's definance in the face of the Sanhedrin. Peter voices a full commitment to Jesus' choice of him to lead the mission given to him and all the disciples

I then read of a Bishop in America whose delight is to be surrounded by  BodyBuilders. The Institutional Church has come a long way from the thrice repeated instruction to care for the "sheep". I want to be able to accept the leadership of the hierarchy as being in a direct line from Jesus; a line of Holy Men devoted to their mission. Such a hope is not childish naievity but what Jesus promised us. "To the end of time".

Lord Jesus; where can I go now that the salt has lost iits savour?

My prayers always get pushed out by the busyness  brought about by visitors. I love these girls and their mother and father. I  pray for them everyday but when I see them I am sadened by the cancer that is going to cut short the life of their much loving and much loved mother.

Are you praying today for a spiritual rather than an institutional unity.?

Dear Lord, I am telling you nothing about my family and our lives. I know that you are All Good and will the best for all your creation. Let this family be safe in your Love as was the family with whom you shared your incarnate life on earth. I pray that you listen to the prayers of your mother and to all mothers who also wish only the best for their children. Thy will be done!
