It is about two hundred and fifty years before the final revelation, the Resurrection, confirms that the death of our bodies is not the end of our being that the events of this morning's first reading took place in Jerusalem .

The mother of the seven sons knew that each had been formed in her womb but that she was not the source of their life and that the whole world was also the work of IAMIAM. This is the base on which we all have to build our lives in this world.

Even if human intelligence were capable of truly knowing God human language is not capable of communicating that knowledge. Matthew, Mark and Luke often make assumptions about Jesus' motives in teaching when and what he does.

Today Luke feels justified to presume that Jesus was motivated to teach this parable because of  his, with his followers, proximity to Jerusalem and their ever present hope that he would soon establish a new Davidic Kingdom, a never-ending Jewish state.

This is another parable which leaves me with a feeling of disquietude as it does not fit easily into the definite "My kingdom is not of this world" declared before Pilate. The words "To them that have more will be given" is definitely true in the Billionaire World of Mammon but I am at a loss how to apply them in my spiritual life that strives to be "true to every word that comes from the mouth of God".

The conclusion to this parable said by the king who rewards in this world "Bring them here and slaughter them before me" is also not at all "Christian". 

It is, however, condemned by the message of his whole life in this world as lived by Our Saviour and so is probably some sort of textual aberration rather than a true saying  of Jesus.

In the Old Testament we read the public, historical record of how the Jews, the chosen "People of God" tried to do the will of "Our Father on earth as it is done in heaven". 

In the first reading Eleazar is being forced by his apostatising own people to conform to the Hellenization of Israel that they have accepted. This had to be a recorded public event for the enemies of God wanted to prove that their "kingdom of this World" was more powerful than the invisible God revealed to Moses as the creator, source of all being, IAMIAM.

The invisible Eternal Word that is "The Beginning" was certainly the source of that old man's strength. He it was, however, who chose to accept the inspiration that came to him and his participation in this public event seals a life that has been a righteous following of the Law and an example of the capabilities of a human being to choose to resist the evil that confronts us in this world.

Today as I try to sort out in my own mind the lesson that I can learn from the Mass Readings by raising my mind and heart to God, I am  aware that Jesus told us to do this thing we call praying in the depths of our own being where he will respond as our ever-mindful, loving spiritual father and we will be able to stand alone before him ashamed, as were Adam and Eve, aware of our unconcealable naked sinfulness, but secure in his Mercy. 

We can never grasp the immensity of Our Father for whom all of time/creation is always as present as is this keyboard and the words appearing on the screen are to me but that immensity has created me to know/return his love and given me a likeness of his being in the freedom that I always have to chose between Our Father who art in Heaven and the Father of Lies, Jesus and Mammon, the eternal being of my soul and the putrefaction that is the destiny of all animal material.

IAMFATHERSONHOLYSPIRIT knows everything, always but my puny being will have forgotten the "sincerity" of this moment within hours. Eleazar and all the other heroic martyrs were given the grace to bear indelible witness to their faith at that moment as they left this world in agony inflicted by other men. 

As I continue in life it is all too easy for me to repeat my mistakes and so I make these "posts" to be my personal reminder that I can and do choose to live righteously for the Love of IAMFATHERSONHOLYSPIRIT is and has always been with those who conform their own beings, body and soul to doing the Will, listening for the Word and accepting the Wisdom that we can find by praying the Scriptures.

It is a revelation of the INCARNATION that sin is absolute and requires the unimaginable pain of  all  the deaths of humanity concentrated into the person of WORD to consummate the salvation of the world

Dear Lord, help me to become peaceful in my "secret room" where my whole being should be directed away from me and only to you. Help me search not for things too great for me but to humbly beat my breast as did the other publican and pray for the forgiveness of which only you and I know how much I am in need Also help me to remember always that I am never alone when I pray. Our Lady and all the Saints are also praying with me. May my prayers join theirs in praise and supplication for the grace to eliminate my individual sin and overcome the world as did Eleazer  in his old age as, with your grace, so will I. Amen

Monday Week 33 in Ordinary Time

Today Jesus responds to all of us who in various degrees of blindness sit by the roadside that is our present moment in the reality of our lives and call out to him. 

There are many of us for whom the layers of blindness that is "This World" are too thick and comforting for our  awareness of being, that is also our inner eye, to be conscious that the "Son of David" is both never far from us and also, always asks what it is that we want from him.

In the first reading many of the Jews ruled by heirs of Alexander had allowed themselves to become blinded by the worldly allure and comfort of Hellenism. Many had welcomed  the deification of the human form, the cultural pride and the military success that were epitomised in Alexander and were the the source of human glory and of non-existent gods.

For some of them, however, the inner eye that sees the WORD, Christ light of IAMFATHERSONHOLYSPIRIT, was not completely clouded and those "Sons of David" who were able to remember the promise made to that king succeeded in rededicating their Temple and Nation to our God.

When I choose to remain in sin rather than seek the forgiveness that is the free-gift  of Our Father, I begin the self-blinding process that becomes layers upon layers of mere superficialities that become, however, dense enough to prevent my inner eye truly recognising the "Son of David" and responding to his presence.

We have to be so careful in our lives as these layers of blindness are not only physical and obviously sinful but can also be religious even spiritual. 

Dear Lord, help me to find a place no higher than  the roadside where you pass by for "Blessed are the poor in Spirit for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven". Amen

Sunday Week 33 in Ordinary Time

In today's reading from St Luke's Gospel we listen to  ETERNALWORD, TRUEMANTRUEGOD, during the brief spell of ever-escaping time he used to enable all individual humans to lovingly accept and conform our own freedom to all that is revealed in Scripture. 

Five hundred years before then, Malachi had felt trapped in a world dominated by the "arrogant and evildoers" but he "took this as his opportunity" and CHRISTETERNALWORD gave him the "mouth and wisdom" that still cannot be contradicted twenty-five hundred years later.

St Paul who is in person "the Jews" the first target, focus of the blinding WORDLIGHT, has to face the practicalities of how to become the Resurrection Church  founded on St Peter in the real world amidst the informed yet blinkered hostility of his own people and the confusing intelligent ignorance of the Hellenes and other gentiles.

St Paul knows that our sole legitimate aim in life is to become Holy in body and soul, to provide a fitting welcome in our unseen beings for the Resurrection, WORD who is IAMFATHERSONHOLYSPIRIT. 

He knows that "My kingdom is not of this world" but that Jesus too had worked with his human body, for the Incarnation is not just a concept but a truly debased human animal bleeding to death in unimaginable agony in the real-time event of Calvary.

We all live lives of different experiences in this world. We are all pressured by the providence that we meet from the moment of our births. Today Jesus seem to be speaking about temporal events both to his own  and all future generations but the "do not be terrified" comes from the Father directly to each one of us who heard, hears or will ever hear these words.

We all know that the appearance of material reality can be controlled by technology. Our screens can hold and reproduce events of the present and the past. Our bodily senses can and are deceived on a daily basis by man-made machines and we can experience all human pleasures, pains and fears that are totally illusory as if they were real.

IAMFATHERSONHOLYSPIRIT today warns us "to not go astray". He tells us to live in the reality that only he reveals for as the Psalmist knew, "he will come to judge the peoples in fairness". The wealth and beauty of the Temple has departed just as easily as do the images on our screens but we can still welcome the WORD for as he died on the cross, Jesus created for us his Church of Love, the New Holy Family, Our Spiritual Home until the end of time.

"Woman behold your son, Son behold your mother."

Friday Week 32 Ordinary Time

Over the last few days I have been deeply impressed both by the intelligence displayed in the readings from the Book of Wisdom and beauty of the Psalms. At the same time the Gospel readings let me never forget "that there is something greater here".

Each generation that has been born after the Resurrection is part of the reality that is the completed purpose of IAMFATHERHOLYSPIRIT as partially revealed by the WORD in the Old Testament and finalised by the one event LIFEDEATHRESURRECTION of his INCARNATION in real-time, 2000 years ago.

Jesus IS certainly something greater than Moses and he IS before Abraham was. He also revealed to them and all his "Chosen People" that they were still as free as Adam had been and could choose to defeat the effects of sin by agreeing to be part of a "Special Relationship", the only Covenant made by God.

Jesus did not bring another New Covenant with any nation, into the world. On his Cross he poured out his blood for the benefit of each individual sinner from Adam to me.  At his trial He made it perfectly clear for all ages that the time for a Worldly special relationship was over. "The Den of Thieves" had always been a storehouse for the Gold of this world then, and the Chief Priests handed him over to the Mammon that is still the god of this world now. At the Temple of Pan in Caesarea Philipae, he had already founded His Church and at the Last Supper given authority to a new priesthood.

Today, I am a lone individual raising my mind and heart to God with Faith, Hope and Charity aware that over all Charity should rule my being, that I can be sincere in my prayers only to the extent  that I look far beyond myself first to God and then always to put the tangible needs of others before my own.

All sins are forgiven by the event that surpasses all understanding and even though I am sure that today's Christian Institutions have never been completely as Christ intended them to be for they very quickly became a new Priesthood, Scribes and Pharisees, individuals composing the Temple condemned by Jesus for failing to live up to the Truth that had been revealed to them, my place in the peace that  surpasses all understanding is secured by the words "Woman behold your son, son behold your Mother" for it is Jesus who thus establishes the Spiritual Church of Love, his new Holy Family, Mystical Body where he will be until a New Beginning will be brought about by the end of time. "Omega and Alpha". 

Dear Lord, I know that you have  always been with your creation and men have always denied this  but you have never refused to support those who with their hearts and minds seek to do your will on earth, in this life as they hope to continue to do so after death .

"In the Beginning was the Word".

"Let it be done unto me according to thy Word".

The Eternal Incarnation has been manifest in real-time for two thousand years.

"This is my body".

"Into your hands I give up my Spirit"

"Have mercy on me for I am a sinner".

Glory be to the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Amen.

Week 32 in Ordinary Time

All of us begin to "know" either by accepting or denying that we cannot be exactly sure about what it is that makes us the unique person that is our consciously existent being. All individuals have always struggled when they dare to face the question "who am I?" and most of us abandon that struggle and just accept as enough what comes to us in the material reality of this world. 

The evidence that we have for the earliest communities of human beings is in the material remains that they have left behind; weapons, tools and primitive and yet amazing buildings and bits of their bodies. We do not know anything about what was being thought by the builders of Goktepe or Stonehenge as they struggled to build permanent structures out of the corruptible materials of this world.

God has revealed first through Moses and concluded through St. John that he has added to his created evolutionary process by the creation of souls in his image and likeness for Adam and Eve and has continued in his compassionate care for mankind even though we have consistently refused to return his love.

There is nothing material about our God who throughout the records of time passing recorded by his Chosen People reveals more and more about his spiritual being. IAMIAM becomes ultimately IAMFATHERSONHOLYSPIRIT. 

We, however, are also evolutionarily developed animal bodies which are corruptible flesh deified by the Eternal Incarnate Word and self-aware in the individual freedom, the being of our unique soul, created for each of us by Our Father at the moment of our conception, with which we know ourselves and all  others, first of all God, within the limits of our consciousnesses.

The readings from the "Wisdom Literature" are roughly contemporaneous with Greek Philosophy which is always rational though unguided humanity facing the reality of being. 

The Truth that comes from God, however, is also Love, Mercy, anything including Life itself that is Good and  can only be found in The Word that is the Scriptures, the Church, Body of Christ, New Holy Family and souls who choose to accept the infinite grace created by Calvary to do God's will on earth.

It is certainly not to be found in any of the Human Institutions developed by the followers of Mammon who began incredibly shortly after the Resurrection completed God's Revelation, to impose their human wills  and  seem to have taken complete control in total opposition to  God of our world during the last fifty years of my lifetime.

To you then O monarchs are my words directed

that you may learn Wisdom and not transgress.

For they will be made holy, those who observe holy things in holiness,

And those who have been taught them will find a defence.

Therefore set your mind on my words, 

long for them and you will be instructed.

Although this Psalm is directed at the high and mighty of this world it equally applies to all of us; it is to be holy that we have all been created. Only Jesus and Mary share  the sinless flesh of perfect humanity. We do not know what awaits us after the Return when God will be all in all. 

Today, we have to turn our lives into the prayerful recognition of Our Father that never ceases to trust in the saving passion, death and Resurrection that was THE real-time event two thousand years ago in Palestine as recorded in the Scriptures. IAMFATHERSONHOLYSPIRIT has shown us his complete purpose and told us the meaning of our lives. Our freedom determines how we respond.

Tuesday Week 32 in Ordinary Time

Everything that has been selected from the Bible to become part of Liturgical Prayer has been selected to reinforce Truth. Today's first reading is from the wisdom literature that has become part of the intellectual culture of the Western World and with the teachings of Jesus are the foundations of what even the anti-God establishments ruling "This World" consider to be "personal integrity".

As an immature youth in my first week at University I was told to read and write an essay on Francis Bacon's "Of Truth". It's opening sentence has never left my consciousness, "What is Truth said jesting Pilate and did not stay for an answer". 

That task effectively blocked any academic career that I might have had for I did not know where to begin and even today I am not even able to have another go as "Truth" still opens  a doorway into a vast void of longing for the certainty of perfection that is always beyond my grasp.

Science offers a true empirical description of the composition of matter and millions of us are more than satisfied by its revelations but the answer to my longing cannot be found in anything temporal which is destined for corruption.

Pilate's words were in disparagement to Jesus', '"Actually I was born and came into the world to testify to the Truth". Jesus did not come to be a "King" then or now but to fill the void that can only be filled by doing the will of Our Father and striving never to be satisfied and silenced in our longing, by being anything less than becoming "the unworthy servants who have only done our duty".
