Does Moses' proclamation to the homeless wanderers who had joined him in his escape from slavery in Egypt exclude all others from the Holiness that is required to become and remain one of God's beloved.?

The subsequent history of the "People of God" seems to confirm that they acted as if their nation alone had God's attention and Love.

"The Angel of the Lord appeared unto Mary and she conceived by the Holy Ghost". This is the sentence that begins the complete reset of mankind's relationship with God. This is no human thinking but is the revelation of the Incarnation which is the final gift of God's Love to the whole world.

The actual Word of God began his mission of salvation at the moment  he was conceived as a human being in the womb of Theotokos, herself The Immaculate Conception. The Incarnation  is a past event in earthly transient time which is also forever present in the timeless Eternity of God.

I need to remind myself continuously of that  for I am a sinner and unable of containing the warmth of God's Love without choosing to think about it for I have to self-control all of my functions as human being. We are all born with the freedom to accept or reject what Jesus has taught us in the full knowledge that "he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust".

Jesus declared before Pilate "My kingdom is not of this world". The full implication of this is that he does not support or condemn any of the man-made, city-states, republics or empires that have ever governed or are still governing the world. 

As war breaks out again all participants have to know that they are individually damaging their own souls and by so doing willfully denying the Will of God. When either side achieves a victory it is not proof of God's favour but only of the greater strength of the winning side which will surely pass away as do all the things of this world.

The only victory that we can claim is when we aim to become a person "holy to the Lord our God" and be perfect, "as your heavenly Father is perfect". We can only do this by directing all our beings to living by all that IAMFATHERSONHOLYSPIRIT has revealed to us through his friends who knew God as he lived, died and was Resurrected in the person of Jesus of Nazareth who from the Cross created his Church of Love, the New Holy Family.

For the last two days, I have missed recording my efforts to bring myself into the awareness of the presence of God. I did not lose that sense of being responsible for my own thoughts and deed that I have always tried to support with scripture and avoidance of sin but I was easily sidetracked from this my primary purpose by the sheer amount of Worldly News which has done its intended work and "flooded the zone" of my awareness of being.

IAMFATHERSONHOLYSPIRIT has always wanted for each one of us to view our lives as did shepherds in the desert. Each moment that passed was basically the same as the one that went before. Sometimes the sheep were scattered, they had to be moved to new pastures, they had to be especially cared for in the lambing season but the shepherd who cared for them had to endure the vast loneliness and hardships of desert life without any input into his consciousness other than the needs of his flock and awareness of IAMIAM.

By using my computer I can become engrossed with external influences that can be based on reality or a total fiction or a mixture of both. For the last two days I was tied up in the things of this world to the extent that I did not think about the scripture readings but let them pass through my being without any recorded response.

I know that I thus ignored the Word which has always been available to water the seeds that have been planted into our consciousness and into our consciences. I know that this sin is completely of my own choice and that Our Father  knows that I do not truly know how to atone for all my sins and thus not repeat them, for which he sacrificed himself to perpetuate the forgiving  Love that is his Infinite Mercy. 

May my soul, today, escape from the teeming desert into which mankind has turned this world and find the peace and safety you have created as the Church of Love. Your New Holy Family. Amen

I had no idea at all about what I was going to write this morning. That is true about most mornings but sometimes there is a sort of trend that I follow.

I was shocked this morning, however, that Jesus tells us not to pray as the "Gentiles" do. I had never associated the worship of idols with verbal prayer although I do vaguely remember having read somewhere a comparison between Ancient Egyptian "poetry" and the Psalms.

God knows that I have always been disturbed that he made a choice of the Jews to receive his direct revelation. I have always felt sorry for the neglected Gentiles. So, I have today belatedly realised that it was the whole world that was to have benefitted  from the way to holiness that the Jews of the Old Testament kept to themselves.

I have today realised that IAMFATHERSONHOLYSPIRIT does not respond to "Lord, Lord" but it is we who have to respond to him. We have to know, love and serve in the secret, except to Him, centre of our beings and never turn "prayer" into a show.

The ways of God are unknowable except to the extent that he reveals them to us. I believe that the Incarnation, Jesus, is Way, Truth and Life, the Living Word that is the only gate through which we sinners can pass through death into the presence of our Creator and Saviour. 

It is up to us how we present ourselves at the gate but we are not alone in this life as Jesus hears all our prayers, even those that we babble, and has created a place of spiritual safety for our souls in this world, the New Holy Family.

Monday Lent Week 1

The Lord spoke to Moses, saying,

 ‘Speak to all the congregation of the people of Israel and say to them,

You shall be holy, for I the Lord your God am holy"

Holiness is inseparable from Love. We owe our total beings, body and soul, to the Love that is the self-awareness of Our Father, IAMFATHERSONHOLYSPIRIT and reveals itself in Creation, the reality in which we know that we too have our being.

In the circumstances in which I was raised, the post-war culture of the victorious yet beaten and already declining British Empire, "holiness" was not in my experience greatly admired and usually defaced by sectarian antagonism.

We were, however, always ready to spot the hypocrisy of others. The word itself triggered images of the "Holy Joes", "holier than thou" sectarians, and tract distributing spinsters who had first appeared in the novels of Victorian England. 

That was "then" but in the "now" that is so different, I am able, thanks be to God, to understand that to aim after holiness is the only "safe" thing to do with our lives. Jesus  has given us ample warning that although his "kingdom is not of this world" it is on how we live without sin, in harmony with our neighbour in this world “Truly, I say to you, as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me. And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.", that we will be judged.

Although today's Gospel begins with a separation of the flock into sheep and goats , which could be taken as an image of predestination, Jesus makes it clear that it is we who are in charge of our own lives. As "image and likeness", we have freedom to choose between the "ways" of this world and his revelation as "way, truth and life".

It was a huge wrench for the Apostles to accept that the Law had been superseded, perfected by the Incarnation and in many respects the Church subsequently failed to become free of the High Priestly entanglements with this world from which Jesus had freed her. How is it possible that any Pope could read, "My kingdom is not of this world " and still wear three crowns.?

During the1,500 years that the Church has definitely been part of this world to the extent of shaping the culture even of non Christian nations, war, i.e. neighbours killing neighbours, has never been absent and has even been promulgated by the Church founded by Christ. 

At the moment "this world" is again dominated by war and preparations for war. A nation which broke free from enslavement to the worldly "divine right of kings" is demonstrating its "manifest destiny" by threatening its perceived enemies with "shock and awe".

I have come to believe that there has never been a "just war". "Turn the other cheek" is another confirmation of  "Thou shalt not kill". The early Church was inspired by the Apostles that the return of Jesus would not be delayed. This Gospel still fills us with hope, but even during my lifetime I have witnessed the falling away of ever greater numbers of  believers. 

Modern man has been able to enhance the things of this world into marvels that are beyond the imaginings of my childhood and yet we are still the same beings, created to know, love and serve in this world as we reject corruptible worldly joys and fears, seeking only to do the will of Our Father in his Church of Love, the safety of the New Holy Family created on the Cross as he died on Calvary.

First Sunday of Lent

Today the Church founded by Jesus guides us on this first Sunday of Lent by asking us to take stock of what, where and who we are.

We are not the first human beings. We are also not the first sinners.

The apex of the created material universe is the human being, Adam /Eve, who can now not only understand how he has developed from the simplest form of life but has also become capable of understanding and manipulating the matter of creation even to the extent of copying the intricacies of his own brain and produce non-living intelligent memory. We are, however, the product of the loving will of Our Father and so just, as with Jesus,  "there is something greater here".

IAMFATHERSONHOLYSPIRIT is the creator of all "being" but with us he has added to our "natural body" the "image and likeness", the freedom that is similar to, but impossibly to imagine smaller, than his own.

We are in the twenty-first century. We are still free.

We are part of the ninetieth generation that has lived and died since the reset of creation that was the Jesus Event, the real-time Incarnation of our God. I have for some time been unable to remain confident that the history of the Institutions that claim  to be the guardians of the sacramental presence of Jesus in this world are justified in their claim. I am not just disappointed by the failings of modern clergy but the bad deeds of historical Patriarchal Emperors in the East and Popes in the West does not convince me the Church has ever become the "kingdom that is not of this world", i.e. Jesus' own

We are followers of Jesus Christ. He has never deserted us.

Each one of us is free to become the recipient of the free gift of salvation created by the Incarnation. We are the followers of the Way, we recognise Truth and we seek Life, knowing that we can find them in the Church of Love, The New Holy Family for "if, because of one man’s trespass, death reigned through that one man; much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and the free gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ".

Jesus speaks to all of us from his cross and thus creates the loving familial security that we can all share.

Friday after Ash Wednesday

At the moment there is a lot of fuss being made in public about "fasting". Isaiah's message   in this morning's First reading warns the followers of IAMIAM that when they boast  about their devotion to following the Law of Moses i.e. "fasting", they have indeed "lost the plot".

The  relationship of our sun and moon in the material universe has brought it about that this year there is a coincidence between Ramadhan and Lent . I know that in the world there are millions of Moslems who have rejected the Resurrection and God's complete reset of our relationship with Him, by sincerely claiming that Mohammed is the final messenger of God. They are mistaken. Jesus warned us that this would happen.

The Church of Peter both in the West and the East, Rome and Byzantium became worldly organisations and took on political roles even before Constantine's Edict gave freedom to all religions in the Empire. They thus failed to honour Jesus' "My kingdom is not of this world" and generation after generation humanity continues in failing to "fast" of the things of this world and dutifully follow the way, the truth and the life that is Truth demonstrated by the  Incarnation, IAMFATHERSONHOLYSPIRIT himself living the life of any man.

On his Cross the bleeding corpse of the Son of God becomes the "loser" that is so much despised by the rich and powerful of my generation. On the third day he reveals to the whole world that there is "always something greater here" for the asking. Beyond physical death there is Eternal Life. God has always said this first to Adam, then to his chosen people and finalised his message at his trial and crucifixion.

"My kingdom is not of this world"   "Father forgive them for they know not what they do". "This day you will be with me in paradise" "Woman behold your son, Son behold your mother" "It is finished".

We have not been true to the teaching of Jesus just as his forefathers failed to listen to the prophets, even to the sublimity of Isaiah which is also "WORD OF THE LORD" Amen !

Is not this the fast that I choose: to loose the bonds of injustice,  to undo the straps of the yoke, to let the oppressed go free

and to break every yoke?

Is it not to share your bread with the hungry and bring the homeless poor into your house; when you see the naked, to cover them

    and not to hide yourself from your own kin?

Then your light shall break forth like the dawn, and your healing shall spring up quickly; your vindicator shall go before you;

    the glory of the Lord shall be your rear guard.

Then you shall call, and the Lord will answer; you shall cry for help, and he will say, “Here I am.” If you remove the yoke from among you, the pointing of the finger, the speaking of evil,

if you offer your food to the hungry and satisfy the needs of the afflicted, then your light shall rise in the darkness and your gloom be like the noonday.

11 

The Lord will guide you continually and satisfy your needs in parched places and make your bones strong, and you shall be like a watered garden, like a spring of water whose waters never fail.

12 

Your ancient ruins shall be rebuilt; you shall raise up the foundations of many generations; you shall be called the repairer of the breach,  the restorer of streets to live in.

I have always comforted myself for my lack of understanding how to achieve worldly success by Jesus' words in this morning's Gospel. 

I am not alone in this and that is why those of us who try to live according to God's will are despised as "losers" by many of our  successful contemporaries. I have sometimes thought that being "despised" by the successful in this world is a mark of God's favour "Blessed are you when men revile you".

With Jesus, however, "there is always something greater here". The warning "what does it profit a man to gain the whole world but lose his own life?" is not to be used, as I have done as a defence for my incompetent weakness and failures, but as our personal challenge to overcome all the material temptations of this life, chief of which is our sense of self, our egos. 

The whole of Jesus' teaching is that every human life has to  accept that Our Father has not created us in the image and likeness of other men, our this worldly fathers, but as completely free souls, image and likeness which has the sole purpose of overcoming whatever circumstances, our personal crosses, into which we are born to prepare ourselves for His assessment of how we have known, loved, and served.

Sometimes holiness seems to be beyond my reach but I am sure that Jesus Son of God and son of Mary has shown us the way and not only instituted the Church founded on Peter to be the Guardian of his Body and Blood but also created as he died on his cross, his New Holy Family that is the purely  spiritual Church of Love and totally beyond human corruption.

Ash Wednesday.

Our Father has never left us alone in the reality of material creation in which his will to love and also have completely free creatures choose to aspire to knowing, loving and serving the non-material reality that he reveals himself to be, can flourish.

We all should know that we are not God. Each bodily human life will end. The wonders that we have achieved  in our World have not been created out of nothing. Each generation is born into an already existing world. Each human idea and insight is based on what was previously known by another human being.

Even though our first parents misused the loving freedom that was their created being, i.e. "image and likeness", and became the first link of the chain of sin, to which I know that I have also contributed, and which now fills the world, the Love that is Our Father did not "cancel"  humanity but offers to each succeeding generation and individual the freedom to aspire to the holiness that the Bible reveals to be the will of God.

The first guide book to holiness is the Old Testament. IAMFATHERSONHOLYSPIRIT revealed himself as the one True God to the Jews and supported their righteous efforts to become an example to the nations. Mankind including the Jews, however, followed the way of Adam and continued to misuse the freedom that had been created to choose the ways of God.

The Eternal Being that is God is timeless and is totally aware of everything. I look back to 2000 years ago and become aware that an "Angel of the Lord appeared unto Mary and she conceived by the Holy Ghost". During our lifetimes, as we try to search for God's will our freedom is limited by time and thus understand the Eternal INCARNATION to be a reset of Creation, a change in God's plan and forget "In the Beginning was the Word."

I know that I am living in a world that OURFATHERSONHOLYSPIRIT knows rejects him. The immensity of his Love, however, is so great that he reaches out from eternity to each one of us and with Love assures us that total forgiveness can be ours when we make the effort to access the timeless Mercy poured out in bitter pain by Jesus, True God and True man when Eternity was present in time on Calvary.

Dear Lord, help me to truly atone for my sins and let this Lent become a time of renewal for the whole world and for my loved ones.

According to some scholars, St James may have known Jesus from childhood but we can be sure that he has taken in what Jesus, his Rabbi for three years had taught him. 

God, Our Father does not tempt us into sin. We comfort ourselves with excuses but even when overcome by temptation we are aware in the centre of our beings that we are losing control and are choosing to do what  is displeasing to God.

In this morning's Gospel Jesus is still annoyed that his chosen disciples are not able to just be at peace in his presence and untroubled by their worldly needs. It is not as if they had not gone through this "breadless" situation before. Jesus reminds them of how he had been able on two previous occasions to provide for the bodily needs of thousands who had been without bread.

Jesus is true man and has already allowed himself to experience in solitude all the levels of temptation that we can undergo. He never loses control and never reacts in human anger. When he drives out the money changers and cattle dealers from the Temple courtyard he is still just and is righting a wrong. He never loses his temper.

Today he chastises the Apostles for he is Son of God and even though they have witnessed His miracles and He has interpretated his parables for them, a little bit of hunger occupies their minds to the extent that they are no longer focussed on Him.

Today I will try to continue throughout the day to remember that there is nothing more important for me to do than commit myself to the way of life taught in first century Palestine by the Incarnate Son of God, Jesus of Nazareth by his life, death and Resurrection and recorded in the Holy Spirit inspired words of the New Testament.

Dear God, help me to be truly sorry for my sins let my prayers be joined to those of Mary and all of us still living in Your New Holy Family and let me prepare this Lent in holiness to witness your resurrection. Please accept this  Act of Contrition and in Thy mercy pardon my sins. Amen

The collection of the first/second century texts that we know as the New Testament was not finalised until the fourth century after the Resurrection.

Scholars are still able to study actual texts, fragments of texts and references made by other writers to try to understand what our forefathers in Faith had received as "Good News" from the Apostles, the friends of Jesus.

Not only the identification of the writer of this morning's first reading, James as "Brother of the Lord, but also the text itself has always been controversial. Over the centuries many scholars have supported their lives in this world by engaging in the discussions about "James" himself and his teaching. 

Jesus was the Rabbi of the 12 and they in turn with Paul, who was uniquely selected by Jesus to convert the Gentiles, have become the teachers who confirm that the Law has been completed by the events, Incarnate Life, Death and Resurrection that they themselves have witnessed and that these events are the reality that is itself the long-awaited  Messianic Promise.

When confronted by the Pharisees, Jesus sighs in exasperation. Theologians teach that IAMFATHERSONHOLYSPIRIT is impassable, totally beyond anything like our human emotions but he has revealed by his Incarnation that his Chosen People needed to be redirected as they had substituted their own ways for those revealed through Moses and the Prophets. Jesus' sigh reveals the loving exasperation that our sins create for Our Father.

We have been blessed beyond all imaginings by the Resurrection but just as the Jews distorted the Law of the Old Covenant, we and our Churches have mostly failed to avoid entanglement in the material complications of this world. 

Not all of Jesus contempories were able to break free from the conditioning of their History and created many justifications to refuse to believe even when they witnessed or heard about his "signs". Even the destruction of the Temple and their national home was not enough to convince their children that there had been a reset by God of his Covenant with them. Nor should these purely worldly events have had more influence than the Pure Word, Jesus of Nazareth Himself who lived, died and was resurrected to save not only Israel but also the whole world.

The immensity of God is totally beyond our comprehension but we all live because we are known and loved by him. As with Jesus, even with us, however "there is something greater here" since we are all completely as free in the limits of our humanity as is IAMFTHERSONHOLYSPIRIT. Our life, our soul is "image and likeness".

God is not responsible for the misery that living in this world is for millions of us. We are each one of us created to live according to the revealed will of IAMFATHERSONHOLYSPIRIT and thus avoid creating evil during our lives. Our Father knows everything even to the extent of knowing how every sin has grown from and is thus linked to  Adam's. He knows every possible answer to the "What if I had ?" questions we all can ask about our past and how we choose potential deeds to become real-time events, sinful or otherwise.

Only God knows whether or not he will have to have another "reset" to improve how we know, love and serve Him in this world. We can be sure, however, that there will be an end of time when God will become ALL in ALL but until that happens even though we are surrounded by the triumph of evil in this world we can be sure that the New Holy Family he created on Calvary is always the  place of safety for our souls as we prepare them for either personal death or the return of Our Lord. Deo gratias! Amen

"In those days", i.e. less than 25 years after the Resurrection.

St Paul together with all the Apostles and first disciples has become aware that the Resurrection is the final revelation of how we can access God's free gifts to live lives in conformity to his will.

Today we read from his first letter to the Corinthians and note that he is repeating Jesus' declaration before Pilate. "My kingdom is not of this world" when he tells them "Among the mature we do impart wisdom though it is not a wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are doomed to pass away".

Up until Jesus stopped him on the road to Damascus; stopped and blinded him with the light of the same glory that had also been revealed to Moses, Paul had been a prayerful Pharisee who was devoted to the Law. 

He had delighted in the matchless intellectual purity  that was worshipped with unquestioning trust in IAMIAM, absolutely undivided, source of all being and ruler of heaven and earth. Heaven could be seen in the sun and stars that always followed the same orbits and on earth a Jew could be rewarded  to the extent he followed the Law that had been revealed to Moses. God loved the Jews and they loved him.

After his Christophany, the matchless way in which St Paul lived out his missionary life and the teaching we still revere in his letters show us that he recognised that in the human life of Jesus Christ, IAMIAM had revealed himself to be IAMFATHERSONHOLYSPIRIT and he, Paul, himself opened his heart to become a truly  sinless vessel, a living temple for the Holy Spirit.

All human wisdom which does not include the sincere belief that Jesus is the Son of God is bound to pass away and achieve nothing. The Incarnation has to be welcomed by all mankind. It is the perfect foundation on which each one of us can construct the lifetime of righteousness that can become the living prayer of a soul sincerely devoted to Our Father and thus ready to be welcomed into the Eternal Moment when we become part of :

What no eye has seen, nor ear heard,

nor the heart of man imagined, 

what things God has prepared for those who love him.

Everything that is real in life, everything that never changes was present in the  real-time of 2000 years ago.

The Lord, Paul and Barnabas whom we read or hear about in today's liturgy were flesh and blood, living beings. With Jesus there is always "something greater here" but Paul and Barnabas were exactly the same as we are today. We know that in "those days" there was an ongoing  great re-set of the relationship between mankind and God, but they were men as we are actually living the change that we can only, as did Mary, ponder in our hearts.

The City where they were teaching was already an ancient settlement when they arrived there. It had been occupied by many cultures all of which had left physical traces of their presence that can still be seen and excavated. 

It is still a real place in the reality of this world as it is in the present day and has experienced all the changes that have been accomplished by the 80/100 generations that have lived there since the Good News was brought to them by Paul and Barnabas.

We all are real in the time of this world and the reality of the roads walked by Jesus and his disciples, the buildings in which they lived are still real but they have the reality of ruins, they are the "dust", as we will become, from which they were made.

Together with Paul and Barnabas, we have been taught by Jesus that the physical reality we know as life in "this world" is not the only gift we receive from Our Father nor is it the most important one.

We all of us have in our being the unseen reality that is our soul, unseen image and likeness created by the Eternal Love that is IAMFATHERSONHOLYSPIRIT which we are able to preserve in holiness for in his Mercy Jesus has not only created his Priestly Church to distribute Sacramental Grace but also enabled us to join Him in His New Holy Family with Mary, John and all the saints, His Mystical Body, Church of Love, into the protection of which we have all been individually invited by our Saviour who knows each one of us better than we know ourselves.

During the first years after the Resurrection those Jews who had known Jesus, witnessed miracles of healing and been captivated by his person and his teaching had increasingly had to face up to the fact that they his own people had participated in the crucifixion of Jesus.

Apostles had had to face up to the fact that they had abandoned him after his arrest in the garden. St Peter had got to accept that he had actually denied any knowledge of the Son of God. St Paul could never forget that he had participated in the first persecution of the infant Church.

In those first years they must have been vessels filled  with the Holy Spirit for the only thing that they did was pray and preach and wait for the return. 

They were, however, very concerned about how to welcome "the whole world" to whom they had been ordered to proclaim the Good News. The religion of the Old Testament was very much about exclusivity. It was racist and the Jews who stoned Stephen in Jerusalem really did feel that they were doing God's will. That is why Saul could stand by while Stephen was brutally killed.  

Jesus forgave his executioners as did Stephen. But both deaths occurred at the hands of their brothers.

The Faith that was growing during the time the Gospels, Acts and Letters were being written had to reconcile itself to the disappointment that Jesus had not returned and also had to explain to Jews and Gentiles how they could live as free beings within a creation that had been visited and lived in by True God and True Man who had offered and allowed himself to become a sacrificial victim to atone for sin and yet they knew, even after the Resurrection, themselves still to be sinful.

God knows that I am trying each day to respond after two millennia to the same situation that the Apostles faced after the Ascension of the Lord. 

• They had unequivocal proof that there was life after death.

Until the Incarnation it is true that God revealed himself only to the Jews.

They did not fulfill their side of the Covenant.

God inspired many prophets who had very limited success in turning his beloved back to him.

The Gentiles developed many civilizations and cultures that did not know God. 

Jesus first preached to the "children" of His Father.

We who try to live a Christian Life in the Post-Christian Culture that dominates the whole world even those parts that have never been Christian are shocked by any form of racial or cultural arrogance when we encounter it. 

Nazi Germany's efforts to completely destroy the Jews are so impossibly evil to accept as done by humans that excuses are clutched at by those who cannot accept that all Worldly Evil has been created by mankind.

The descendants of freed African Slaves in the USA are still suffering from the residue of the disgusting segregation that was the "norm" in the "Land of the Free" until only 50 years ago.

Moslem colleagues have never been abashed to look into my face and say "You'll go to Hell, John".

I am upset by Jesus' words to the Sidonian woman just as I am upset by thoughts of the millions of people who have not been guided by IAMFATHERSONHOLYSPIRIT.

I remember how upset was St Paul at the thought of his own race's refusal of to accept the love of God. He offered to become "damned" in their place if this would atone for their sin.

I have to thank God for his saving grace and pray that my faith in the New Holy Family can be shared by the whole world of humanity and am sure that if I can be obedient to the revealed loving will of Our Father so can all peoples of the world.

"Blessed are they who observe what is just

Who at all times do what is right."

Solomon and Jesus both have God's favour. Jesus, of course, is by far the greater but until the actuality of his Resurrection only Mary, Theotokos, mother whom he shared with John and us from the cross, knew the holy mystery of the Incarnation. 

"Immaculate Conception" was heard by the shepherd girl at Lourdes, spoken by "Our Lady". This was one of the ways that the appearance of "Our Lady of Lourdes" was verified by the Church for how could St Bernadette who was basically illiterate at the time of the apparitions have heard of the theological dogma that had not been defined until 4 years prior to her meeting with Our Lady. 

This  non-scriptural  doctrine that Mary was prepared from her very conception as the sinless source of the humanity of the Incarnation and is thus the  the only other than Jesus still human bodied (and thus able to enter our earthly reality) soul present with the souls of all the Saints in the never changing Joy of being with IAMFATHERSONHOLYSPIRIT.

Nothing is impossible to God and so it is possible for the Church to confirm that what are decried by many as mindless superstitions are in fact real events. I cannot deny, however, that over the last two millennia there has been much manipulation of the humble people of God by false prophets and evil prelates.

I am still trying to become one of the humble people of God. I try to read and contemplate the significance of the Mass Readings for each day. God and I know how it is still so very easy for me to sin and lose sight of my primary purpose to know, love and serve Him, but I am always renewed in my struggle when I remember the words spoken by her barely living Son to Mary and John as IAMFATHERSONHOLYSPIRIT died in human agony on Calvary.

"Woman behold your son, Son behold your mother."

Dear Lord, you know what it is that  I want to ask you. 

My words cannot come close to the disappointment that I feel knowing that the intense joyful Faith of the people of Solomon in this morning's first reading fades and has to go through many generations of failure and renewal before your INCARNATION resets our relationship with you.

Even in the first year of his public life Jesus becomes a figure that is recognised by "multitudes" who seek him out for his power to cure the sick. Many more multitudes have sought him out over the centuries that have passed since those days and yet we still live in this world as if we have never known your guidance.

We have somehow  missed the meaning of the message of the angel accepted by Mary for the world in which I live  is far from what you revealed to be possible by your real presence in creation. 

Help me to overcome the gloom created by worldly events which overshadows even the hope that I have in your words to Mary and John.

I know that I am responsible for my own soul but you Lord died so that we all might live. My prayer is thus first for me but the "me" who implores your mercy is part of a family, a Church, a nation and a World and one of the billions of "Holy Souls", living in this world and also in Purgatory who  completely recognise that they are sinners and completely dependent on you. Lord have Mercy.

Yet again I feel inspired by today's readings to pay more attention to reading the Bible not only for what it contains as selected by the compilers of the Liturgy but also to try to understand  how the first 2/3 generations of Gentile Christians came to base their whole beings on what is throughout the Old Testament a celebration of one race of Human Beings and a repudiation of all the rest.

What has struck me today is that the Psalm for today's mass is a wonderful prayer from the heart which expresses my own feelings and desires to live according to the will of God far better than I can myself. I have always prayed for the "Lord to teach me his statutes" and even in my sins, thank God, have not lost sight of the Mercy that is his, but this psalm seems to have been edited and later today I will use the wonder that is this machine to find out more about that,

The Apostles return from their first missionary journey exhausted and absolutely thrilled by what they have experienced. There are hordes of people milling around and Jesus knows that they need to rest. He takes them across the lake but the multitude  anticipates this manoeuvre and even on foot arrive there before them.

In the 2000 years since that moment, mankind has continued to act as sheep without a shepherd, We have had many kings and leaders most of whom have been as wise and even wiser than Solomon. We are all milling around either literally or figuratively seeking to to be secure in our own selves. We should all quieten down and even in the prime of life centre our lives on IAMFTHERSONHOLYSPIRIT even as this morning's multitude sought out Jesus.

There is nothing that anyone of us can do with our lives that is more important than  turning to Our Father and praying that we take the teaching of the Old and New Testaments into our hearts and live our lives accordingly.

It is only when each soul on earth lives righteously that our world can truly give thanks to the Loving Mercy which enables us to cooperate in the reset of creation that is the INCARNATION.

For God nothing is impossible and so I pray that nothing can separate me from the Love of God that is the very being of the Church of Love, the New Holy Family, founded from the cross by the dying words "Woman behold your son, son behold your mother" and sealed by 

"It is finished".

There are some of us who are now living completely in this world without a giving a thought to Our Father except in an abbreviated exclamation which is of course not a thought or a prayer.

I have never felt really comfortable in my life except when looking after my children and grandchildren. Even then I always had at the back of my mind the thought I was not presenting to them an example of holiness  in this world that they could want to emulate.

I am still too close to sin and even now am not sure that I am truly turning to God as I try to wake up in this world remembering that Jesus basically told us  to ignore our physical reality and follow him.

Of course, I am not right in interpreting "My Kingdom is not of this world" as a new commandment to "ignore physical reality" as he also assured us that our good deeds made during our lifetimes were not ignored by Our Father in Heaven and in the Incarnation he actually shared our flesh and himself resisted all the temptations that we face.

We all live in this world as a preparation to enter the Kingdom of Heaven which is a state of being beyond our understanding, beyond our Universe where we can all be forgiven our trespasses to the same extent as we have lived lives of righteousness in this world, by repudiating all aspects of sin.

It must be very difficult for the Great and the Good, the rich and powerful, the Davids, Solomons, and Herods of this world to become as the publican in the Temple humbling beating his breast in search of forgiveness for his sins. It is not easy even for me who am lower in the world even than the publican to maintain the innocence to which our Incarnate God, Jesus of Nazareth showed us the way.

I have to remember "Your Father in heaven knows the hairs of your head" and has created for all his people the Church of Love, His Mystical Body the New Holy Family into which place of love and safety he welcomes us with arms outstretched on the cross:

"Woman behold your son. Son behold your mother."

We all of us live in "interesting times". 

The events that any of us witness as we come to know the reality of our own being and whatever we witness around us are the confirmation that "iam" and that I need to know that we all need to be as aware as is David that we are neither self-created nor self-sufficient. 

We are all creatures and subjects of "The Lord " who has revealed himself to be the all powerful IAMIAM in whose invisible "image and likeness" we have all been created.

Jesus warns all nations that we should beware of the "interesting times" of this world for at his trial before the representatives of this world both secular i.e. Pilate and Religious i.e. High Priests he makes the categorical statement "My kingdom is not of this world".

I know that "this world" of "those times" i.e. the living culture of Jews and Gentiles, Temple and Empire were both unacceptable as satisfactory modes of human life by our Father who had required his people whom he had led out of Egypt to follow ten rules while living in this world as a preparation for his "End of Time".

God alone knows why he chose that particular time and place for his Incarnation.

St Paul tells us that we have never been left alone on this planet and that the Resurrection has finalised  the teaching of Moses and become the focus that supersedes all "Interesting Times".

In this morning's Gospel. The first missionaries are to go into Galilee without any possessions. They are literally to present themselves at a stranger's door and offer a blessing and without any manipulation on their part accept the outcome.

God knows that I am already explaining to myself how this could be by attributing the blind obedience of the Disciples to the only really "Interesting Times" the world has ever known; that was His presence in Time in this World, 2000 years ago.

He also knows that I am also preoccupied by the way Jews are still so prominent in the things of this world as the Institutional Churches that he founded on St Peter fade into irrelevance.

"Irrelevance", however, is in the mind of the observer. IAMFATHERSONHOLYSPIRIT knows and loves us all and we must never forget that the "things of this world" are temporal distractions which we have to ignore if we are to live according to His Will by obeying His commandments.

According to Chinese proverbial wisdom "May you live in interesting times" is a curse and time in this world truly is so even in words of Jesus.

"What does it profit a man if he gain the whole world but suffer the loss of his own soul?".

Our Lord, Jesus of Nazareth, True God and true man, Son of God, Son of Mary, is seen this morning alive  and teaching in the synagogue of his home town which he then leaves to continue his mission throughout Galilee.

His friends and neighbours are amazed at his erudition when he preaches but at the same time affronted that such wisdom could come out of the mouth of one of their own whose family was also well-known to them, and that this wisdom could be also supported by "mighty works".

Jesus was not the first Prophet in Israel nor was he the first human being to be esteemed for "Wisdom" in the centuries that had passed before God's Revelation was finalised by the Resurrection. The basic idea condensed into " A Prophet is not without honour except in his own country" had become proverbial not only in the culture of the Middle East but wherever mankind had begun to think about our own being, our existence.

With Jesus there is always "something greater here". With God there is always "something greater than  that can be thought". For mankind there is nothing greater that can be learnt than the completed revelation made by the Resurrection that death is not the end of life. 

We share our spiritual being, our unseen life/soul, image and likeness, with IAMFATHERSONHOLYSPIRIT and can by aligning ourselves, "Thy will be done on earth " with the teachings, of the New Testament prepare ourselves to share the eternal JOY of being present in the Eternal Sinlessness that is Heaven.

For my own part, I pray never to separate myself from the Mystical Body of Christ, the Church of Love, the New Holy Family always aware that the free gift of Salvation for All has had to be created in the same reality in which I am now living. "True God and true man" suffers real pain truly dies on Calvary in order that his final words create "The New Holy Family" our one place of safety in this world.

The only thing that is anything like permanent in my being is my own perception of it. I have never had an awareness of God that has not been filtered by my conscious effort to respond to Biblical revelation or interpretation of it.

No matter how hard I try to bring myself into line with the will of God and strive to become part of his Mystical Body, the Church of Love, his New Holy Family my fundamental weakness always breaks through my defences and I still keep on sinning and simultaneously regret it.

It has always been the same for me. I have always hoped for heaven. As a child and younger man,  I was always looking for or accepting opportunities to sin but simultaneously terrified by the thought of dying an unprepared for death.

I am the epitome of the anti-God intellectuals, despised pathetic weakness that it is to be a "God-fearing" man.

I share their opinion in that I too know that I  am weak and in many ways to be despised but I also know that the history of human life proves that the Universe and all that is in it is not an unreal random event. 

Our consciousnesses of being are outside of our brains and this has been proven by the direct revelation made to "The whole world" 2000 years ago. Jesus is the Resurrection. The Incarnation is True God and True Man. Jesus brought New Life into the world. 

Those who met with the Resurrected Christ all expected to see him again in their lifetimes and the hope of all Christians has always been that they will experience this meeting even though the continuation of Sin means that we all have to suffer death before this can happen.

The creator of all that it is possible to know in our own beings was born, lived with Mary and Joseph, was recognised by The Baptizer, walked, talked with and taught the Apostles, died in total weakness and became the Resurrection in order to give us incontrovertible proof that IAMFTHERSONHOLYSPIRIT loves us and knowing our sins he continues to pour out the Mercy that even as I sin is mine for the asking.

We must never despair of forgiveness. Even though guilt is an instant presence along with my sin. I remember that it took many centuries for the Resurrection to conclude IAMFATHERSONHOLYSPIRIT'S revelations to his "image and likeness" and that he spent only 10% of his time on earth in direct teaching by "word and deed".

We all have to thank God for not destroying us the moment that we rebel and even though I know myself to be totally worthless, I am still beloved and incredibly the recipient of the Mercy that was created in response to the bitter pain that my personal sin inflicts on Our Saviour God.

Dear Lord, help me to remember that I need to suffer personally, body and soul, as penance for this and all my sins. Your cross is the reality that we have made by our misuse of Your Love the source of our beings. Amen

The Presentation of Jesus aka The Purification of Mary aka Candlemas

The three possible names for this feast that has been celebrated by the Roman Church for 1500 or so years in Europe are a reminder that the Institutional Churches that exist today are man-made constructs in this world. Even the date of Easter has been disputed by East and West and thus exist the differences in Ecclesiastical Calendars that are a feature of the Christian Disunity that still exists.

We can call the feast "the Purification" as for more than 2000 years after the Resurrection, the Law of Moses' concepts of ritual purity were still part of the "Church's" understanding of the the relationship between man and God. 

For centuries "Churching" was a liturgical ritual for all Catholic mothers forty days after giving birth. I can remember attending this ceremony with my own mother and father after the birth of my six years younger than I sister. The Incarnation, Nativity and Death of Jesus have banished all notions of the necessity for ritual bodily purity.  The  name "Candlemas" reminds us that candles were traditionally blessed today as Christ is the light of the world and that the Church was the throbbing  heart of European Culture and all of her festivals "celebrated" as much as Christmas still is.

IAMFATHERSONHOLYSPIRIT became man. The INCARNATION is a complete reset of creation. God is totally beyond comprehension but it has been revealed to us that 2000 years ago he chose to actually become a human being in the same flesh as the apex of his created material being, self-conscious, image and likeness "true man and true God"..

If I choose to click my mouse I can become aware of the vast array of Evil that mankind has always chosen to bring into the world. I am dumbfounded by the joy with which SIN has and is still welcomed and celebrated by so many billions of peoples and scream out to Our Father, "Why?". 

Although taught otherwise, I believe that Sin /Evil has a far greater power than we can imagine and that IAMFATHERSONHOLYSPIRIT is deeply hurt by each individual and  generation of mankind that still mocks him for allowing himself to be crucified. The utter pain of the Crucifixion still exists in the Resurrected heart of Jesus and thus Our Father still bears an ever-greater anguish.

The specific revelations made to Adam,  Noah, Abraham, Moses and David were known but not maintained even by Chosen People. God could have created us  as mere automatons absolutely incapable of sinning but because we are "image and likeness" he wants us to live by freely choosing "the way, the truth and the life" by returning the LOVE that is "IAMFTHERSONHOLYSPIRIT".

We are all still the potential "People of God" even though we are much more technically advanced than were Jesus and his Apostles. The souls that are our true conscious beings and that differentiate us  from the animal bodies out of which we evolved following God's plan, are still completely free to rule "the world" but whatever it is that we choose to do with our lives there is still only one God and Saviour.

Jesus in his dying words creates "the not of this world" Church of Love, comprised of Creator, Saviour and Love i.e. Jesus, Mary our adopting sinless mother, and John, the Beloved Disciple, the New Holy Family which welcomes all who know that there is nothing that this world can offer that is able to compete with the peaceful security that we can now choose to be ours even as we aspire to live out sinless lives in this world  ever mindful that the "Ever-Greater" knows, loves and supports us on our way as much as, for our part, we know, love and serve Him.

The fourth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Every time I miss making a response to the Mass Readings, I come to realise why it is necessary for me to try to discipline myself in this way.

St  Benedict and St Basil both knew from their own experience that devoting one's life to Our Father means that our human consciousness which can very easily be distracted even from/by  our very best intentions requires a "rule" which  can be upheld and supported within  a community of brothers or sisters.

St Paul is writing to the  "humble and lowly people", one of the first communities of believers, "who seek refuge in the name of the Lord", They are still "in the world" and they were  not wise according to worldly standards. Neither were they powerful or of noble birth.

God chose what is weak and despised in this world to deter the "Great and the Good" from being overcome by pride in their own beings.

Our Saviour, the Creator of all that we are aware  chose to be born in an animal shelter and allowed himself to be tortured and displayed naked as he "bled out" in public view. He really did "practise what he preached".

In this morning's Gospel Jesus teaches us all that we need to hold in our minds as we live out lives governed by Holy discipline. There is nothing about my world in 2026 that can/should  distract me from the  response that each human being has to make to the WORD .

                    "Listen People of God, this is my beloved Son with whom I am well pleased"
